Expect to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.” learn more about working at Coinbase.The Data Platform team builds and operates systems that centralize all of Coinbase's internal and third-party data, so teams across the company can access, process, and transform it for analytics, machine learning, and end-user experiences. As a senior engineer, you will work across the full stack of our systems: foundational processing and storage, scalable pipelines, and the frameworks and internal tools that make data easy to use.
What you’ll do:
- Design, build, and operate foundational data services, including storage (cloud warehouse, data lake), orchestration (Airflow), batch processing (Spark, SQL), and streaming (Kafka).
- Build and maintain data integration and processing SDKs used by internal services and product teams.
- Design self-service tools so users can manage and troubleshoot their own data pipelines.
- Build services for data security, observability, quality, cataloging, and lineage.
- Turn requests from analysts, ML, and security teams into reusable, scalable patterns.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, including senior-level ownership.
- Strong Python, Go, or Java backend development skills.
- Hands-on experience with data systems or data pipelines.
- Familiarity with design patterns such as scale-out, caching, key/value, and columnar storage.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Airflow for operational data analysis.
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below. Total compensation mayalso include equity and bonus eligibility and benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).
Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):
₹6,612,000—₹6,612,600 INR
