Salary Slip Generator
Make a monthly salary slip (payslip) with basic, HRA, allowances, PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS. Net pay in words, ready to print as a PDF.
Salary slip format: what a payslip must show
- Employer details: company name and address, and the month the slip is for.
- Employee details: name, employee ID, designation, department, date of joining, PAN, UAN for PF, and the bank account (last 4 digits are enough).
- Attendance: days in the month and loss-of-pay days, so the paid days are clear.
- Earnings: basic pay, house rent allowance (HRA), conveyance, medical, special allowance, bonus or incentives.
- Deductions: employee PF, ESI if it applies, professional tax, TDS and any loan or advance recovery.
- Net pay: gross earnings minus deductions, in figures and in words.
Labour laws require employers to give every employee a wage slip for each pay period. Salary slips are also what banks ask for on a loan, and what a new employer checks when you switch jobs.
How each deduction is worked out
Provident Fund (PF)
The employee pays 12% of basic pay (plus DA) into EPF, and the employer adds the same. Many employers work it out on basic pay up to ₹15,000, so the employee share stops at ₹1,800 a month. Use the EPF calculator to see what it grows to.
ESI
When an employee’s gross pay is ₹21,000 a month or less, they pay 0.75% of gross into ESI and the employer pays 3.25%. Above that, ESI does not apply.
Professional tax
A state tax with its own slabs. In Maharashtra it is ₹200 a month (₹300 in February) above ₹10,000 gross for men; Karnataka charges ₹200 a month from ₹25,000 gross. Some states, such as Delhi, have none.
TDS
Income tax deducted by the employer, spread across the year from the employee’s estimated annual tax. The in-hand salary calculator shows the yearly picture for both tax regimes.
Questions people ask
Is a salary slip without a company stamp valid?
A slip printed from payroll software is valid without a stamp. If you make it by hand or from a template, sign and stamp it so banks and new employers accept it.
How are loss-of-pay days counted?
Most companies divide the monthly salary by the days in that month and cut the unpaid days. This tool does the same; some companies use a fixed 26 or 30 days instead.
What is the difference between CTC and in-hand salary?
CTC includes the employer’s PF, gratuity and benefits that never reach your bank. In-hand (net) pay is what is left after your own deductions, the last line on this slip.
