How eGig checks facts, fees and job listings

Any figure about another company comes from that company’s own page, with the date we read it, and if we could not read it we say so. eGig is run by Rebota Technologies in Pune, India. This page explains what we check, what we do not, and how to tell us we got something wrong.

Fees and prices of other sites

  • We read the site’s own pricing or help page and write down what it publishes, with the date.
  • We label a company’s claims about its own size as its own claim, because we cannot verify them.
  • When a page is closed to us, or we did not read a detail, the table says “not checked”.
  • Links to other sites are listed under Sources on each page. Prices change, so check before you pay.

Counts and rankings

When we count something, such as how many jobs show the pay on a site’s list, we say how, on which day and in which city. These are snapshots, not rankings. eGig is much smaller than most sites it compares itself with, and each comparison has a section on what eGig does not do.

Calculators

Each calculator shows its formula and works in your browser, so what you type stays on your device unless a page says otherwise. Tax and labour rules carry the date we checked them. Where we could not find an official document, such as many universities’ CGPA formulas, the tool says so and lets you choose. Results are estimates, so a qualified person should check anything you rely on.

Salaries

The salary guide gives typical ranges as a rough guide. On job lists, “typical pay” comes only from the jobs on that page, and never from members’ private data. An employer’s listing shows what that employer offers.

Jobs and companies

  • Direct posts: jobs from verified companies can go live at once, and other direct posts are reviewed first. A job must show pay.
  • Jobs from other boards: these are labelled with the source, and you apply on the site that posted them. We do not check that each one is still open.
  • Fees: jobs that ask job seekers for money are blocked or removed. How to spot a fake job offer.
  • Verified badge: a verified company has had its GSTIN checked.

Free software pages

Licences, activity dates and star counts on the free software pages come from each project’s public code page, on the date shown. We have no paid placements on those pages, and we say when a tool has limits or has stopped being maintained.

Translations

The Hindi and Marathi guides are written for those languages and may be shorter than the English pages. If the two differ, the English page and the official source decide.

Tell us about a mistake

Write to info@egig.in with the page and what is wrong, and we will check it and correct the page. If you run a company we compare, send us the page that shows the current figure.
