Remote job sites compared: fees, and how to avoid scams
You do not have to pay to find a remote job: We Work Remotely, Himalayas’ free plan and eGig show jobs at no cost, and FlexJobs is the one here that charges job seekers a subscription. eGig has 677 open remote jobs right now, with the pay on each one, far fewer than the biggest boards. Prices read on 31 Oct 2026.

Before you apply: checks that save you from scams
- Find the same job on the company’s own careers page. Copies and fake adverts rarely appear there.
- Talk to a real person with a company email address, not only on Telegram or WhatsApp.
- Never pay for equipment, training, “kits”, or visas. Paying “tasks” on chat apps is a known fraud.
- Read the location line. Many “remote” jobs hire only in one country or time zone.
- Ask how you will be paid. Pay from abroad normally means you handle the tax yourself.
If you have already lost money, call the national cybercrime helpline 1930 and read what to do next.
What eGig does not do
eGig does not check that a remote job from another board is still open, or that it accepts people in your country, so read the listing on the site that posted it. Its remote list includes jobs copied from other boards, including Himalayas, so you may see some of the same jobs in both places.
Questions people ask
Do I have to pay to find a remote job?
No. We Work Remotely, Himalayas’ free plan and eGig let you see jobs for free. FlexJobs charges job seekers a subscription. Whatever you choose, never pay an employer: a request for money to get or start a job is a warning sign.
Which remote job sites suit people in India?
Any of them, if you read the location line on each job, because many “remote” jobs hire only in one country or time zone. eGig also shows the pay on each listing, and applying costs nothing.
How do I get paid by an employer abroad?
Usually through a bank transfer, a payroll company or a payment service. Ask how you will be paid before you accept, keep your contract and bank records, and check the tax position with a chartered accountant if the amount is large.
How many remote jobs does eGig have?
The number at the top of this page is live. Many of them come from other job boards, including Himalayas, and are labelled with their source. You apply on the site that posted them.
