Hire freelancers in India
Post your project free with a budget, and freelancers send proposals. Or search profiles by skill and message anyone directly. eGig takes no commission from either side, and you pay the freelancer directly. It does not hold your money, so agree milestones first.
Hire in 5 steps
- Write the brief: what you want, the deadline, examples you like and your budget.
- Check a price: the freelance price guide gives basic, standard and premium ranges for common work.
- Compare proposals: look at real past work, not only the price.
- Agree in writing: use the free contract template and split bigger work into milestones.
- Pay and review: pay against each milestone, and leave a review that helps the next client.
What platforms take
Fees differ widely, and they pay for different things: freelance platforms compared, Upwork alternatives and Fiverr alternatives. A platform that holds your money and settles disputes can be worth its fee on a large job with a stranger.
GST and TDS
A freelancer may need to charge GST once registered, and a business client may need to deduct TDS on the payment. The free GST calculator and TDS calculator work out the amounts, and your accountant can confirm which rules apply.
Questions employers ask
Is it free to hire a freelancer on eGig?
Yes. Posting a project and messaging freelancers are free, and eGig takes no commission from either side. You pay the freelancer the agreed amount directly.
What if a freelancer does not deliver?
eGig does not hold your money, so it cannot refund you. Protect yourself with a written scope, small first milestones, and part-payments that follow delivered work. On a large job with someone you have not worked with, consider a platform with escrow.
How do I choose between proposals?
Open their past work, ask one specific question about your brief, and check how they answer it. The cheapest proposal is often missing part of the scope, so compare what each one includes.
