All 12 questions with answers

1. Have you done a project like this before?

Show one close example with results. If not, explain the closest work and how you would approach it.

2. Can you show me samples or references?

Share two or three relevant samples and a past client who is happy to talk.

3. How much will it cost, and how long will it take?

Break the work into parts, give a price per part or milestone, and add a buffer for revisions.

4. How many revisions do you include?

State a number (for example two rounds) and the rate for extra rounds. Put it in writing.

5. How do we pay you?

Advance for the first milestone, the rest on delivery of each part. Use a written agreement.

6. Do you work with a contract and invoice?

Yes: a short agreement with scope, timeline and payment terms, and a proper invoice. Add GST if you are registered.

7. Who owns the files and copyright?

Agree when rights transfer, usually on full payment, and whether source files are included.

8. How will you keep me updated?

Agreed check-ins, such as a short update twice a week, and one channel for feedback.

9. What do you need from me to start?

A clear brief, references, files and logins, and one contact person who approves work.

10. Can you meet a tight deadline?

Only promise what you can deliver. Offer a smaller first version if the date is fixed.

11. What if I’m not happy with the result?

Explain your revision process and how you will check the brief early to avoid surprises.

12. Do you offer support after delivery?

Say what is included, for how long, and the rate for changes after that.

Before the interview

  • Genuine employers never ask you to pay for an interview, training kit or joining. Report anyone who does.
