All 13 questions with answers

1. Tell me about yourself.

Your degree, one project or internship, two skills and why you chose this field. Keep family details out unless asked.

2. Why should we hire a fresher like you?

Show you learn fast and are ready to work: a project you finished, a certification, a college event you ran.

3. Tell me about your final year project.

The problem, your part in the team, the tools you used, the result and what you would improve now.

4. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Two strengths with examples from college or internships, and one weakness you are actively fixing.

5. Why did you choose this branch or course?

An honest reason and what you enjoy about the subject. Link it to the job.

6. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Growing in this field with more responsibility. Avoid saying you plan to leave for something else.

7. Are you willing to work in any location or shift?

Answer honestly. Companies plan postings, so a yes you later take back hurts you more than a clear no.

8. Did you do an internship? What did you learn?

One concrete task, the tools you used and one lesson about working in a team or with deadlines.

9. Tell me about a time you failed.

A real setback, like a failed project or a low score, what you learned and what you did differently next time.

10. What do you know about our company?

Read their website and recent news. Mention what they make or do and why it interests you.

11. Are you planning higher studies?

Be honest. If you want to work for a few years first, say so. Employers worry about freshers leaving within months.

12. What salary do you expect?

Say you are open to the company’s standard package for freshers. Know the usual range for the role in your city.

13. Do you have any questions for us?

Ask about training, the first project you might join and how performance is reviewed.

Before the interview

  • Read the job description twice and match two of your examples to what it asks for.
  • Keep printed copies of your resume, ID proof and certificates ready, even for online rounds.
  • Know your current CTC, expected salary and notice period. Check typical pay in our salary guide, and compare offers with the in-hand salary calculator.
  • Genuine employers never ask you to pay for an interview, training kit or joining. Report anyone who does.
